Tropis//Subsonics Jogjakarta was a week-long program of music performances, workshops and talks focusing on the different ways Indonesian and Australian musicians make and create sounds- focusing on the more experimental and improv traditions.

Featuring Australian exploratory music legends Oren Ambarchi, Robin Fox, Rob Avenaim, David Shea and Tim O’Dwyer in collaboration with a range of electronic and acoustic Indonesian musicians including the incredible Senyawa, the program introduced a community of musicians to the richness of the experimental music scenes in Jogja and Australia. Connections between these two scenes have since flourished.
